Your heat pump works year-round — cooling in summer, heating in winter — and Auckland's humidity makes internal mould and dust build-up faster than in drier parts of New Zealand. A unit that hasn't been serviced in 12 months can draw significantly more power just to maintain the same temperature — manufacturers typically cite 10–25% efficiency loss in poorly maintained units. One visit, full clean, written report — and it runs like it should.
Qualified technicians: All heat pump services are carried out by trained technicians experienced across all major brands. We carry full public liability insurance on every job.
What's Included in Every Service
A full Grime Busters heat pump service covers the complete unit — not just what you can access yourself. Your technician removes and cleans the filters, then opens the unit casing to clean the evaporator coil with a specialist coil cleaner, clean the fan drum (the part that accumulates the most biological growth), flush the condensate drain to prevent overflow, and wipe all accessible interior surfaces. The unit is reassembled and test-run before we leave. You get a written service report noting the unit's condition, what was cleaned, and any issues observed — useful for warranty records and for tracking whether performance has changed between services.
Single highwall unit from $129. Twin units (two heads, one outdoor unit) from $219. Ducted system pricing depends on the number of outlets — book and add your system type in the notes.
Why Regular Servicing Matters
- Higher power bills — clogged filters and dirty coils force the unit to work harder, adding 10–35% to running costs
- Poor air quality — mould and bacteria build up inside the unit and circulate through your home every time it runs. If you have a broader indoor pest control concern, we can coordinate the same visit.
- Shorter lifespan — a neglected unit can fail years earlier than one that's maintained
- Voided warranty — most manufacturers require annual servicing to keep the warranty valid
How Often Should You Service?
- Once a year — most households
- Every 6 months — pets in the home, heavy use, coastal location, or visible dust build-up
- Now — musty smell on startup, struggling to heat or cool, or can't remember the last service
Prices confirmed May 2026. All prices include GST and are all-inclusive — no hidden charges.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to do anything before you arrive?
Just clear access around the indoor unit. If you have a ducted system, it helps to know where the return air grilles are. We handle everything else.
How long does it take?
Single highwall units take 45–60 minutes. Twin units around 90 minutes. Ducted systems vary by number of outlets — usually 60–90 minutes.
What brands do you service?
All major brands — Mitsubishi Electric, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Samsung, LG, Hitachi, Toshiba and others. Not sure? Book and add your brand in the notes.
Will a service fix my unit if it's not working properly?
A service resolves the most common causes of poor performance — dirty filters, blocked drainage, clogged coils. If there's an underlying mechanical or refrigerant issue, we'll identify it in the service report. Repairs and refrigerant recharging are quoted separately.
